Is my Husband's bad shoulder associated with his Diabetes?
Hi, if anyone can give me some advice on this I'd really appreciate it.
My Husband is in his fifties, is otherwise fit, (not overweight) 6 foot 3 and still has good muscle-tone etc; He keeps active and we eat healthy organic foods(though not veggies)... so, regardless of and despite doing all the right things, he developed Diabetes Type II about three years ago. It is in every person on his maternal side of the family and each of them had type II... and each of them died much younger than they should have, due to Diabetes complications, which is a huge worry this end! David, my hubby, manages it, by taking Metformin, Statins and Ramipril, which he hates taking, but does.
Trouble is now, he has, over the last few weeks had terrible pain, in his shoulder, which anti-inflammatorys don't help. He went to the Doc on 3 separate occasions and was told he's just pulled a tendon? I then looked it up on the internet and read a couple of books, to discover that there is now a definite link between Diabetes and a sort of frozen shoulder. It wakes him up, and me ...as he shouts in pain in his sleep.
Any ideas or advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks x
Thanks ever so much to you all for your input. He went back to the Doctor this morning and they have given him a steroid injection in his shoulder????
Apparently, it can give relief for up to 3 months? They said it's normal practice...but neither of us have a clue, as we hadn't heard of this procedure?
I really don't know...cannot see the point of putting more drugs "in", especially if Diabetes is a factor. Anyone else heard of the Doc's doing this? Is this a good idea?
And a big thank you to the lady who is also married to a Diabetic and whose man is on the Statins. I will ensure David gets the relevant 'liver' tests. x
