What percentage of shoulder surgery is successful?

Broken shoulder didn't mend. The ball of the humerus for the shoulder is disinegrating and Dr. said that this particular surgery is a 50/50 type, meaning that range of motion may not improve with surgery. Can't understand why the humerus will be floating in my arm without surgery. Is it harmful? Any help out there?

well, you have a lot going on - here's the problem and the reason behind 50/50...there are about 20 muscles in the shoulder area, some of which are cut on to get to the glenoid part of the shoulder - muscles will heal with scar tissue and shoulders are just difficult to get a 100% satisfaction rating - incindently so are all surgeries -
sounds like you dont have much of a choice though, if your arm is disintegrating and your still young and healthy - hey man, yo uneed an arm -
spend the $ and get another opinion - the doctor will give you your MRI back to show someone else.
good luck - do the rehab smart.

The price of shoulder surgery is very low in India as compared to USA, UK and Canada. My cousin also got her hip replacement surgery in India through the Fly2india4health Consultants .She is more than very happy with the results. She is totally pain free now. She just paid 25% of the amount she was quoted in USA and is all praise for this Fly2india4health Consultants.

Fly2india4health Consultants is very famous in India. I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and magazines. I have read a lot of their patient stories also. They arrange financing for USA, Canadian, UK and other international patients who plan to have surgery abroad for low price, as all joint surgery is not covered by insurance in USA or by NHS in the UK. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. There are huge cost savings. As a doctor I personally believe that your surgery can be easily handled in India, as the quality of healthcare available In India is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.
