Could I have a rotator cuff tear?
Okay, on July 15th, 2011, I fell down my basements stairs. Obviously I was in pain, and very sore. I had some decent sized bruises on my elbows, and my feet were more sore than anything. I didn't feel the need to go to the doctors because I figured I'd just be sore for a week or two. But as the months went on, my left shoulder continuously caused me pain, and still is. I can't count how many nights I've gone with little sleep, crying for a good hour.
At first when I started bringing attention to the pain, my mom figured it was just bruising, and she said that for a few months. But, obviously it's not bruised because it wouldn't still be giving my unbearable pain.
To describe my pain...
It sometimes feels like someone is taking a really thick, sharp needle, and trying to force it through my whole left shoulder. And then majority of the time, it feels like a burning, tearing, numbing sensation.
I also feel pain in my collarbone, back of shoulder, and the front part of my upper arm (the bicep area?). And it hurts to put on deodorant because the pain has affected my armpit. My bra strap causes a lot of pain, as well.
The pain has become so bad that it has affected my neck. My neck is very tight, and I'm constantly popping it.
Sleeping is the worst part of my night. I'm never absolutely comfortable because no matter how I lay, the pain is unbearable.
Raising my arm up above my head hurts. Pulling my arm behind my back is extremely painful. My shoulder also "clicks", like as if I were popping it, but I feel no pain, what so ever.
All of my pain is only on the left side of my shoulder. And I know it sounds crazy that I haven't gone to the doctors by now. But I'm only 15, so I can't drive myself, and it also costs to get my shoulder checked on, and even more money if I have to get surgery, or something. So, if anyone has some helpful information for me, it would mean a lot if you told me. I'm so scared that something is seriously wrong.
