what exactly causes the stiffness from a rotator cuff injury?
I know what a rotator cuff injury is. I know how it's treated, whether it's surgery or rehab, but my question is....what exactly causes the stiffness and reduced range of motion? For example, not being able to reach behind and still your had in the rear pocket of your pants? Is it the swelling? the lack of range of motion is there even if there is almost no pain. Is it atrophy?

I had shoulder surgery a year ago and still have pain.?
I had shoulder surgery for SLAP tear, decompression and partial rotator cuff repair. The last few months the pain is getting worse. I have a MRI scheduled for this week so I will know more in about a week but was wondering if anyone else has had pain this late after surgery?

Will I be alright with slight tear in rotator cuff?
The orthopedic surgeon I saw told me that my MRI showed there was only a small tear in my rotator cuff (or maybe labrum, whatever the difference is) and that since the tear is so small and possibly insignificant, there may be a chance that my pain is instead coming from a muscular impingement or muscular issue of some sort that may have happened at the same time as the rotator cuff tear. He told me to go through 6 weeks of physical therapy and come back if I still have pain, but I feel like, in a way, that would only be a band-aid of sorts. I would think that even if the physical therapy alleviated the pain, I would still have a torn rotator cuff that would be vulnerable to re-injury of further injury, especially as I lift and exercise rigorously and also play football and baseball, which obviously require solid shoulder stability. So is my doctor just trying to put a band-aid on me or is physical therapy really going to give me the treatment I need to get back to doing what I want to do?

How do I take care of a rotatory cuff injury that is partially healed? Going to Basic training in 3 months.?
Ok so here is my predicament.
I recently enlisted in the US Army. I hurt my rotator cuff in the past few months and it still hasnt 100% healed and i need to start training my body for BCT.
Does anyone know of any way to help speed up the healing process?
Or any exercises to help me train around the shoulder? Someone mentioned using cables (trainer at the gym I work)
Does anyone have any information on what can do to help it heal faster in general while working out?
At the moment im taking Glucosamine (for something different but it may or may not have helped) if it matters.
Any help would be appreciated.
Also it hurts if i do too much straining work with my shoulder but it doesnt hurt when I dont do much. Like i can vacuum a building and it wont hurt that much. Only when I bring my elbow past my shoulder will I feel any pain in my shoulder.
@Dave
Ive already swore in. Im going. I will do what I can but im not turning away now. You really went off topic and were not helpful at all. I was asking for exercises to do not pity for my sake because i cant do anything.

Having shoulder surgery and don't know much about it...?
I am having a "arthoscopic capsular plication plus/minus rotator interval closure" due to my shoulder dislocating. Does anyone know what this procedure entails? Rocovery time? Post op pain? Op duration? I really don't know much about it and all information would be greatly appreciated. As i will not have a chance to ask my surgeon questions until the day of my operation... Thank you
